About the show
A picture book is thirty-two pages long. That’s the whole tradition — a fixed, unforgiving little container that has to hold a complete emotional story.
Every episode we pick one book and read it the way we didn’t as children: slowly, and with our own feelings in the room. What is this book actually teaching about anger, or loss, or wanting something you can’t have? What did it teach us, and what have we been carrying since?
It’s a show for people who are doing the work — in therapy, in parenting, or just quietly on their own — and who suspect that some of the most useful things ever said about being a person were said in thirty-two pages with pictures.
Your hosts
Daniel
Daniel is an engineer who would rather talk about feelings than admit he spent the weekend refactoring something. He asks the questions the books don’t answer.
Anna
Anna is a therapist who works with children. She brings the clinical eye — what a story is doing to a small nervous system, and why it still works on a big one.
